After this tough election week with a roller coaster of emotions, there are many that might need a boost to their happiness quotient.

Such a boost has been found in a scientific study- Drinking caffeinated  coffee!

According to a research study by Lars Kuchinke and Vanessa Lux at the Department of Psychology at Ruhr University in Bochum, Germany, caffeine “improves left hemisphere processing of positive words”.

In other words, the experimental group that imbibed coffee, caffeine not only improved overall performance of simple tasks, but it also enhanced the processing of positive stimuli.  The explanation lies in stimulating the language-dominant left brain in processing positive verbal by dopamine pathways.

So, if you need a boost to your happiness, take those breaks and drink your coffee. (and if those around you persist in negative thoughts, get them a cup of coffee too!)

Let’s take future coffee breaks together! Sign up for the blog posts at the top left corner of this page.  See you at the next post!
