The ACA which was passed solely by the Democratic party can continue along its timeline now that President Obama has been reelected.

So, what will happen to Medicaid expansion in the various states that have mentioned that they will not opt in due to financial constraints? This expansion was to cover an additional 17 million people who are currently uninsured nationally. Florida, Texas,Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, and South Carolina have said they would not expand their programs.

Will states reconsider?  This remains to be seen.

For the government insurance exchanges, there’s a long way to go and not a lot of time to do it. These online markets must be operational by October 2013. If the exchange in  specific states are  not up and running, the federal government will set up the exchange for them.
