Hey everyone!

I’m instituting a new Fun-Filled Friday practice.  Either some inspirational quotes or health facts and figures will be posted each Friday for education and entertainment.

Today , here are some figures.  The question is:

What are doctors viewing online with their electronic health record (EHR) systems?

Answer:

Eighty percent of physicians with electronic health records are using the systems to view laboratory results, according to a studypublished in the Annals of Internal Medicine.

Seventy-four percent of physicians with EHRs report using the systems to order prescriptions electronically, while 67% use the systems to record clinical notes.

Meanwhile, 34% of physicians with EHRs generate lists of patients by demographic characteristics, 31% generate quality metrics, and 14% provide patients with electronic copies of their health information.

The study is based on a survey of 1,820 primary care physicians and specialists in office-based practices.
